Gabriel Ibitoye set for shock move to France - reports

TOP 14 strugglers Agen have been linked with the major cope of Harlequins' winger Gabriel Ibitoye according to a report by French newspaper Midi Olympique.

Agen have finished the last three seasons, including the 2019/20 season, in the bottom four of the TOP14 but the club are looking to make some high profile signings to bolster their chances of staying up in the coming seasons.

Having missed out on the signature of Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies, the club have also been linked with Harlequins' flyhalf Brett Herron by the newspaper.

According to Midi Olympique, Agen are close to securing the signature of Harlequins' livewire winger Gabriel Ibitoye.

The club has been relatively quiet on the transfer front but according to the report the club could pick up both Herron and Ibitoye with the pairing terminating their contracts due to the financial impact of the Coronavirus.

Ibitoye must get approval from Harlequins to the leave the club while Herron is set to have signed a new deal with Harlequins and would require compensation from Agen to complete the move.

A rising star in the Premiership, Ibitoye scores tries for fun and has represented England at u16, u18 and u20 level. Ibitoye helped England win the U20 6 Nations in 2017 and helped his country to the U20 Junior World Championship where they finished second, finishing the competition as England's top try scorer.

Ibitoye's first Harlequins appearances came in November 2017, he opened his try-scoring account for Harlequins with a stunning try against Bath Rugby in the Premiership in his second appearance.
