England Player Ratings v Australia

England Player Ratings v Australia

Freddie Steward and Jamie Blamire touched down as England secured a 32-15 victory over Australia in the Autumn Nations Series at Twickenham on Saturday.

Here is how we rated Eddie Jones' men.

15. Freddie Steward - 8.5

Steward has made the jump up to test rugby look so easy. The 20-year-old rounded off his try superbly in the opening 10 minutes and looked unfazed with everything that Australia threw at him.

He is quickly making that starting #15 jersey his own.

14. Manu Tuilagi - 7

A mishap or two under the high ball but overall it was a solid outing for the centre on the wing. He featured regularly in the centres on attack and defence and had a number of brutal carries into Australian defence.

13. Henry Slade - 6.5

An up and down game for the Exeter centre with a few handling errors and unkind passes paired with some great touches and kicks out of hand. Good enough to retain his starting role.

12. Owen Farrell - 6

Still not quite at his best but a sound outing for the England captain in his 100th test match. He nailed six of his shots at goal for a personal tally of 17 points.

He also linked up well with Marcus Smith at times before being forced off the pitch in the 68th with an injury.

11. Jonny May - 6

Didn't seem nearly as much ball as he would have liked and when it did come his way he had little space to work with. Did manage to grab two turnovers.

10. Marcus Smith - 8

Sent Steward charging through a gap for England's first try and combined nicely with Farrell throughout the game.

He kicked well out of hand and was sound defensively making 12 tackles.

9. Ben Youngs - 7

Nothing too flashy from Youngs but his box kicking and passing was accurate throughout the game as he took the pressure off the shoulders of Marcus Smith.

1. Bevan Rodd - 6

Tested James Slipper at scrum time but was guilty of giving away the odd penalty. Put in a big 72-minute shift that he can certainly build on.

2. Jamie George - 7

A strong performance from George has he continues to justify why he should be in the England squad having initially been left out.

Nic White brilliantly denied the hooker a try but George was accurate in the set pieces and busy around the park.

3. Kyle Sinckler - 6

Sound at scrum time while he was relatively busy around the park with some nice hands on attack.

4. Maro Itoje - 7

A standard performance Itoje in his 50th cap for England. His work rate is always a standout feature of his game and today was no different.

5. Jonny Hill - 7

A performance filled with big ball carriers, one of which almost led to a try. He defended well too and was a great option at lineout time.

6. Courtney Lawes - 7

Lawes is enjoying a fine run of form at the moment and he continued that against Australia. He was the banker ball at the lineouts and aggressive with ball in hand.

7. Sam Underhill - 6

The hard-hitting back-rower landed a few hefty hits on Australian bodies while his game was impacted by head knock, he returned for a second crack. Not quite his usual threat over the ball but he equipped himself well against the likes of Hooper.

8. Tom Curry - 7

He carried the ball superbly into the Australian defence and looks comfortable in the no.8 jumper. Abrasive throughout his performance.

Replacements:

16. Jamie Blamire - 7

17. Trevor Davison- 6

18. Will Stuart - 5

19. Charlie Ewels - 5

20. Alex Dombrandt - 7

21. Sam Simmonds - 7

22. Raffi Quirke - 5

23. Max Malins - 6
