Bristol run riot against the Dragons

The Bristol Bears hosted the Dragons in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup. Both side had come into the game having beaten each other once prior in the Challenge Cup with both victories coming in the pool stages of the tournament. While the Dragons were not expected to pull off anything significant in this game, with Bristol the form side, there was a scare in the opening 20 minutes.

While the passes were just not coming together for the home side, everything was working in the Dragons favour as they quickly score ten unanswered points. This came through a pinpoint cross-kick by Sam Davies for Ashton Hewitt to score a 12th minute try. This was two minutes after Sam Davies had slotted in a penalty and had begun gaining some confidence.

However, it was not too long before the home side got their act together and hit back with three tries in three minutes with Ben Earl scoring back to back tries, the second being a well-worked team try where Semi Radradra and Harry Thacker were well involved. Going into the break, the Bears were already sitting with a comfortable 24 - 10 lead.

It was the second half performance though that really put the nail in the coffin and set the game alight with great interplay between forwards and backs for Bristol. Within two minutes into the second half, Semi Radradra was over in trademark fashion before Rhodri Williams hit back for the visitors when he went over after a brilliant snipe and a show and go to beat the last defender.

That did not slow things down for Pat Lam's men as they went on to score a further three tries.
