Billy Twelvetrees joins Hartpury Rugby

Gloucester Rugby legend, Billy Twelvetrees, has returned to the County to take up the role of Backs & Attack Coach with Hartpury Rugby ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Twelvetrees will move to Hartpury from Ealing Trailfinders, having retired from playing at the conclusion of 2023/24 season. He will bring a wealth of experience having played at the highest level for 17 years at Leicester, Gloucester, England (22 caps) and the British Lions tour in 2013.

"It’s fantastic to bring someone of Billy’s calibre to Hartpury Rugby," said Director of Rugby, John Barnes

"Billy is a highly respected player and his rugby brain is second to none. With his proven pedigree, he will bring a high level of skill and knowledge to the players, and the coaching team.”

"This is a really exciting appointment for us, and we are looking forward to welcoming Billy to Hartpury Rugby."

Gloucester-Hartpury RFC’s CEO James Forrester added “Our intention is to improve the quality of our Gloucester-Hartpury programme year on year, and I have no doubt bringing in someone of Billy’s quality, knowledge and understanding of our club will help us achieve that.”

Twelvetrees will work across the whole Hartpury pathway for the men and women that covers the College, University and club sides Hartpury RFC and Gloucester-Hartpury RFC. He will be imparting his knowledge and skills to all teams and players. As one of the most successful rugby pathways in English Rugby for both men and women, adding Billy can only enhance the programme even more.

I’m very excited to be joining Hartpury Rugby," said Twelvetrees.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity to be part of an unbelievable rugby programme across the men’s and women’s pathway. The production line of players and national titles is unrivalled, and I can’t wait to be part of that.”

“It’s the start of my coaching journey and I couldn’t think of a better place than Hartpury to get going.”
