Ben Lam butchers a certain try

Hurricanes winger Ben Lam has built a reputation as one of the most lethal finishers in Super Rugby but against the Highlanders on Friday he butchered what would have been an outstanding try from his own 22.

TJ Perenara made the initial break from a turnover in their own 22 before he whipped the ball out to the pacey winger who rampaged upfield and even ran over Ben Smith.

There was a good chance Lam could have scored himself had he kept the ball in hand but he looked to find his fullback Chase Tiatia but he threw a terrible pass that gave the ball back to the Highlanders.

Lam did bounce back in the second half to set up a brilliant try for flanker Ardie Savea.
