Can Wellington end top?
Westpac Stadium hosts the match up between Wellington and Manawatu. Wellington are playing their fourth game in 13 days and could be excused for showing fatigue. But, the home side will be in high spirits after a string of good results getting 2 wins and 1 draw in their last three outings. The home side have scored the second highest number tries , 38, and boast a very line out success percentage as well as a high number of clean line breaks. So confidence should not be a problem. The visitors however have not had the best of campaigns , only managing 14 points from 9 games. Sitting last on the log, Manawatu need a bonus point tie at the least in order to get the 3 points that would lift them off the foot of the table. These two side have met 70 times before with Wellington winning 50 times and Manawatu getting 16 wins and 4 games ending in a draw.
