With a penalty in his own half, Burns turn down the kick to touch and opts to run from deep. The crowd cheer the flyhalf's ingenuity

Good to see the big man back at welford road! Shame for the other team!

In typical poacher fashion Goneva bags his second try of the afternoon. Burns had options outside but opted for a show and go. He made a half break before feeding Goneva back on the inside to extended the lead for the home side.

Superb response from the homseside! A powerful run from Manu Tuilagi brings play deep inside the Falcons 22. Godman did well to cover across and make the tackle but a deft offload game off Godman and feel for Goneva to pounce on the ball in goal.

Possible try for Tigers! Checking TMO!

Newcastle off to a flying start to the 2nd half with a try after 18 second! A loose clearance is fielded Sinoti Sinoti. He made some good grounded through a staggered Tigers defence before feeding Mayhew to run in unopposed from 15m.

Both sides out for the second half. Falcons to get us underway

After a first half of very high intensity the Tigers come into half time in the lead. Burns has been clinical from the tee and as started his Leicester career in style with 4 well taken penalties. Newcastle will use the break to reassess their game plan as their persistent infringing has allowed Burns to open up a healthy lead.
Second half coming up.

As we approach HT Burns turn pressure into points after Newcastle are pinged at a breakdown under their posts.

Newcasltle appear to have sorted their scrum problems out as they get a good shove on and get good change from a kick to touch.
