The second half was incredibly different to the first. In the first half both of the teams played exciting running rugby, and there was a sense of fluidity to the game with very few handling errors and stoppages. The second half was riddled with scrums and medical breaks. For 15 minutes in the second half the Kings looked to be deflated, probably because of the two yellow cards. When they found their footing again, it was too late. Final score EP Kings 22-37 Free State Cheetahs. Thanks for joining Ultimate Rugby for the coverage of this fixture.

Kings patiently edge towards the line. Van Aswegen attempts a cheeky chip over the defensive line which Blommetjies caught. Cooke tackled him in the air. Due to infringement, the ref reversed the Kings advantage and gave Cheetahs a penalty, and "get out of jail free card".
