All over at the Parc Des Sports Aquilera and Biarritz come out victors! 7 points was the final gap that Montpellier failed to breach despite some good opportunities in the second half. It would only have been 4 had replacement scrum half, Paillaugue not allowed his impatience to get the better of him at scrum time 2 minutes from the end. Yachvilli, efficient and economical all afternoon, added the final nail in the coffin. Fabien Galthié and his troops will ask what if? If the TMO had allowed Trinh Duc’s try. Montpellier once again return home with a sour taste in their mouth and a with feeling of missed opportunity. Biarritz will be delighted with the win no doubt and maybe it’s this will give the Basque side some much needed momentum. That’s all from us for now. I hope you enjoyed the coverage and we’ll see you again here soon!
Controversial decision from the TMO as Montpellier try disallowed for crossing. A beautiful piece of play from The Montpellier 3 quarter line allowed Trinh Duc to scythe through the opposing defense and cross the line. On revision the TMO noticed a supposed crossing incident which allowed for this break in the line to occur. Montpellier backroom staff are not happy campers!
Still 7 points in it as Yachvilli demonstrates once again how ruthless he is with the boot. This follows Trinh Duc's success in front of the posts as Biarritz were penalised for not rolling away for the second time
Biarritz’s scrum blows away their counterparts to earn a penalty just outside the 22. Yachvilli’s infamously consistent boot adds 3 to bring his side’s lead to a converted try
TRY BIARRITZ. Fantastic try from outside centre Gimenez gives the hosts the lead in this tight encounter. A kick through in open play allowed Gimenez to demonstrate his lightening quick speed as he left all montepellian competition for dead to pounce on the ball. This game is starting to loosen up!
Half Time at the Parc Des Sports Aquilera. Montpellier maintain a 3 point lead going into the break. The home side have really been on the back foot for the opening 40 minutes with Montpellian playmakers, Trinh Duc and Pelissie dictating the pace of the game. The visitors are unlucky not to have two trys on the board at this point with simple handling errors denying them both times. Importantly, there is only a score between them so everything is still to play for here. Stay tuned for the second half!
Ouegraogo unable to keep a hold of the ball as he crosses the line and the try is disallowed! Exciting spell of play there from Montpellier as they pierce the Biarritz defence on numerous occasions. Trinh Duc once again crucial to the run of play
Montpellier lead 6-3 after 30 minutes. The visitors were awarded a penalty for a late hit on talisman Trinh Duc which Pelissie duly converts. Montpellier will be somewhat dissappointed they are not more ahead at this point. All the rugby being played in the Biarritz half!
Yachvili gets the ball rolling for Biarritz as Montpellier are penalised for offside just outside their own 10 metre line. Some redemption for the scrumhalf who missed an earlier chance that you would have expected him to get.
Floch's long range attempt falls short of the posts in what was an ambitious effort from the full back. Maybe playing for territory might have been more appropriate in that case.
