Mark is a highly rated back who joined the club from Bedford Blues ahead of the 2014/15 season. He began as an outside half during his time at both London Wasps and Sale Sharks. But during his time with the Blues at Goldington Road, he developed into a hugely exciting centre.

This versatility across the backline, aligned to his size and speed, mean he has been a very welcome addition into the Gloucester back division and another example of the quality of rugby players in the second tier of English club rugby.

Mark made an impressive 23 appearances in his first season in Cherry and White, scoring four tries and followed that up with a strong contribution in his second and third seasons, particularly making his mark in the European campaigns.

Heading into the 2018/2019 Champions Cup, Atkinson had 27 European Cups appearances scoring 9 tries and 35 points.

As of November 2019, Atkinson has represented Gloucester on 111 occasions and has scored 105 points for the side.
