Marius Goosen

A former South African flyhalf, Marius Goosen enjoyed a 12-year long professional playing career.

He kicked off his career with the Bulls and went on to represent the likes of Boland and the Pumas in the Currie Cup as well as the Stormers in Super Rugby.

In the early 2000s, Goosen headed to Italy where he would represent club sides Viadana and Rugby Rome.

His most successful stint in Italy was at Benetton Treviso who he joined in 2004.

He made 131 appearances in the Italian league scoring 1215 points and 33 tries.

Having won four Italian leagues and represented the Emerging Springboks and Barbarians, Goosen hung his boots up in 2010.

Following his retirement, he stayed on at Benetton as an assistant coach to Franco Smith.

He filled in for Smith in 2014 following Smith's departure back to South Africa and was named as the club's Director of Rugby ahead of the 2015/16 season.

Goosen worked with the Italian national side during his time with Benetton before he was made a permanent fixture in the Italian national set up in 2018.

The South African runs the Italian national team's defence.
