Tuitama attended Scots College in the suburb of Strathmore Wellington, New Zealand and plays his club rugby for Oriental Rongotai.
Having made his debut for Wellington Lions in 2015, Tuitama went on to make the New Zealand squad for the 2016 World Rugby U20 Championship.
He returned to Wellington following the conclusion of the competition and is starting to become a regular in the sides Mitre 10 Cup squad.
Tuitama plays for Japanese League One side Shizuoka Blue Revs and has been since 2019.
Malo was chosen for the Japan national team and featured in the 2024 Pacific Nations Cup. During the tournament when Japan faced Samoa, Tuitama played against his uncle, Alapati Leiua, who played for the Samoan national team.
