Known for his solid defence and hard tackles Johansson was selected for the Queensland Reds early on in his career and from there made his international debut against the All Blacks in 2005.
With no contract extension from the Queensland franchise, Johansson played in Italy and Japan for a few years before returning to Super Rugby with the Rebels in 2012 where he plays for the Melbourne Rising in the NRC
