Julian Redelinghuys

Redelinghuys started playing youth rugby for the Golden Lions and received an inclusion in S.A. Schools squads in 2006 and 2007.

He played several games for the Sharks in the Vodacom Cup and Currie Cup competitions, but did not make a Super Rugby appearance, despite being named in the Sharks squad for the 2012 Super Rugby season.

After joining Golden Lions in 2013, he played in both legs of the club's matches after the 2013 Super Rugby season, which saw the Lions regain their spot in Super Rugby.

Redelinghuys made his 2014 Super Rugby debut for the Lions in a 21–20 victory over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.

Later that year he made his test debut against Italy.

During the 2016 Currie Cup semi final Redelinghuys fractured his neck in a tackle which saw him being ruled out of action for the whole of the 2017 rugby season.

In December Redelinghuys announced his retirement as the risk of another neck injury was just too big. Redelinghuys represented the Springboks 8 times was 28 years old at the time of retirement.

Redelinghuys, a qualified accountant, has already taken up a role at the Golden Lions Company, where he will work at the Learning Hub as a mentor to the union's junior players.
