Josh Timu

6th Jul 1997 1.83m/94kg Fly Half

Josh Timu is the son of All Black and Kiwi John Timu. He attended John McGlashan College and went on to the University of Otago after high school.

Josh was born in Australia and is the oldest of four children. He played at John McGlashan College and, in his first year out of school this year, played for the University club.

Timu made his way through the Otago ranks lining up in the Otago side which played in the national under-19 tournament in Taupo in 2017.

He was named in Otago's wider training squad for the 2017 Mitre 10 Cup and made only one appearance in the competition and signed new 2-year deal with the side in February 2018.

In 2019, he signed a one year deal with the Sunwolves.

An ankle surgery late in 2019 saw Timu sit out the 2020 Super Season before coming back to play for Otago in the NPC later that year. He was then called to the Crusaders as injury cover for the 2021 season.

Timu earned 5 caps during the 2022 season and paired well with Thomas Umaga-Jensen in the midfield.
