James Ryan is an accomplished Irish rugby player hailing from Berrings, Co. Cork. He has made significant contributions to the sport throughout his career, showcasing his skills and versatility. Ryan's rugby journey began at Christian Brothers, where he played schools rugby before progressing to represent Munster at various levels, including Schools, U19, U20, and Academy.

Ryan has demonstrated his ability to play both tight-head and loose-head prop positions, highlighting his adaptability on the field. He had the privilege of representing the International Club XV side in 2010 and 2011, further solidifying his reputation as a talented player.

In January 2013, Ryan made his European debut against Racing Metro, marking a milestone in his professional career. He also had a loan spell at London Irish during the 2012/13 season, gaining valuable experience in a different rugby environment. Ryan's dedication and consistent performances led to him reaching his 100th appearance for Munster against the Ospreys in September 2017.

Ryan's talents were not limited to club rugby. He played a crucial role in Emerging Ireland's successful Nations Cup campaign in Romania in 2014, showcasing his skills on the international stage. He made his debut for Ireland in November 2016, earning the opportunity to represent his country in 24 matches. In 2023, Ryan made the decision to join the Chiefs in Super Rugby, taking on a new challenge in his rugby career. He made his debut for the Chiefs against the Crusaders in the first round, eager to make an impact in his new team.
