Jeremy Ward attended Grey High School in Gqeberha, where he developed his rugby career and earned selection for the Eastern Province Under-16 side that competed at the 2012 Grant Khomo Week. He continued to represent Eastern Province at Under-19 level, captaining the side during the 2015 Provincial Championship.

In March 2016, Ward was called up to the South African Under-20 training squad ahead of the World Rugby Under-20 Championship. He went on to make the final squad and was named captain, a significant milestone in his young career.

After a season with the Southern Kings, where he made two Super Rugby appearances, Ward joined the Sharks for the 2017 Super Rugby campaign. He remained with the Durban-based side until 2022, making 45 appearances before moving to France to join Stade Français in the Top 14.

Ward quickly established himself as an important figure at Stade Français, becoming a regular leader within the team and going on to captain the side.

In October 2026, Ward earned a surprise call-up to Fabien Galthié’s France squad for the upcoming Nations Championship fixtures, capping a remarkable rise since his move to the Top 14.
