Jack Bates, a homegrown talent, signed professional terms with the Bristol Bears in 2019 after progressing through the club's Academy system.
Bates is a versatile back who can play at both center and wing positions. He made his Premiership debut against Sale Sharks in August 2020, showcasing his abilities on the senior stage. Having represented England at the U18 level, Bates has been a part of the Bristol Bears Academy since the age of 13. Originally from Bristol, he joined the club from SGS Filton. Prior to his professional debut, Bates featured for the Bears in the Premiership Shield during the 2018/19 season.
