The former All Black is now playing for Clermont Auvergne in the Top 14. Toeava last played for New Zealand in the 2011 World Cup.
Regarded by the All Blacks coaches as a "project", the shy Aucklander native, nicknamed "Ice" made his test debut in 2005 aged 19.
In July 2012, Toeava signed a two-year contract with the Tokyo-based Canon Eagles
The 30-year-old is playing at full-back for the French outfit, following 4 seasons in Japan.
Toeava, who scored eight tries in 35 tests, has helped Clermont to the top of the French Top 14 table.
