Emile van Heerden, born on 8 August 2000 in Nelspruit, South Africa, is a promising rugby player. He is the son of former Springbok Fritz van Heerden, who had a successful Springbok career spanning over five years from 1994 to 1999. Fritz van Heerden played 14 Tests and participated in the 1999 Rugby World Cup.

Emile, a tall second-rower, has made a strong start to his rugby career. In April 2019, he made his debut for the South Africa Under-20 team. He was then included in the Springbok Under-20 squad for the 2019 U20 Championship held in Argentina.

In January 2020, van Heerden was named in the Sharks squad for the 2020 Super Rugby season. This recognition highlights his potential and the confidence the team has in his abilities.
