Represented the Lions in Super Rugby and the Golden Lions in the Currie Cup competition. The flanker was named in the Sharks touring squad for their 2013 Super Rugby season but returned to the Lions for the 2014 Super Rugby season.
Minnie joined Italian Pro 14 side Zebre for the 2016-17 season, making 14 appearances during his debut season.
He retired from rugby at the end of the 2017/18 season having made 39 appearances for Zebre.
