Dan John is a highly talented Welsh rugby player who joined the Exeter Chiefs Academy ahead of the 2020/21 season. He caught the attention of the club during his final year at Millfield School, where he was signed to begin his rugby development.

Although originally a gifted footballer, with the versatility to play full-back, centre, or fly-half, John started his rugby journey at the age of seven, playing for his local club, Llantwit Faerdref, until the age of 12. Following this period, he took a break from rugby and pursued football for the next four years. However, his passion for rugby reignited when he relocated to Hong Kong with his family.

John's natural talents on the rugby field quickly became evident, and the Exeter Chiefs coaching staff recognized his potential. In a short span of time, he showed promising development, leading to his involvement with the first team in the Gallagher Premiership. His dedication and skills earned him a top-flight debut in March 2021 when he came off the bench during Exeter's 47-31 victory over Leicester Tigers at Sandy Park.

The son of former Cardiff and Pontypridd coach, Paul John, Dan comes from a rugby-oriented background. His father's experience and guidance have surely contributed to his growth as a player. Prior to his time with the Exeter Chiefs, he had already represented Wales at various youth levels, including the Under-20s, Under-19s, and Under-18s. These representative honors highlight his potential and the faith placed in him by the Welsh rugby system.

As Dan John continues his journey with the Exeter Chiefs and further develops his skills, his versatility, and the experience gained from playing multiple positions will be valuable assets. With his dedication and the support of the Chiefs' coaching staff, he has the potential to make a significant impact in the world of rugby.
