Born in Bristol, Callum Braley qualifies for Italy through his grandfather.
After coming through the Academy at his hometown club, Bristol Bears, Braley made a West Country switch to Gloucester Rugby in 2014 and notched up over a century of appearances for the Cherry & Whites.
Braley helped Gloucester lift the Premiership Rugby 7s in 2014, skippering both the United and 7s teams and scoring memorable tries against Saracens and Benetton Treviso. He joined Gloucester Rugby in the summer of 2014 from Bristol Rugby.
Played his early rugby with St Mary's Old Boys, but made his name locally when a student at Hartpury College. Has been an England age-group international from U16 level upwards and skippered the successful defence of England U20s Junior World Championship in June 2014.
Callum made 14 first-team appearances in his breakthrough season when his solo try against Saracens was voted as Try of the Season, and followed that up with 14 appearances in his second season. After 33 senior appearances for the Cherry and Whites, he penned a new deal to remain with the club until at least the 2017/18 season.
His form at Kingsholm saw him selected for Italy ahead of the 2019 Rugby World Cup – Braley made his full international debut in a warm-up match against Ireland before featuring twice at the tournament in Japan against Canada and South Africa.
The move over to Italy with United Rugby Championship side Benetton Rugby beckoned, with Braley moving to Treviso in 2020 to play his club rugby alongside a number of his international teammates, and there he was part of the side which claimed a surprise victory over the Bulls in the 2021 Pro14 Rainbow Cup final – a historic first success in an international competition for any Italian club.
In February 2022, Braley signed a deal with Northampton Saints which would see him join the CLub ahead of the 2022/23 season. At the time of his signing, he had 13 test caps for Italy.
