Hailing from Grahamstown in South Africa, Wilkinson made the trip to the West of Ireland in 2006. A quality loosehead prop, Wilkinson graduated on scholarship from the University of Cape Town before being signed by Connacht, despite interest from Western Province. Wilkinson earned himself an Ireland call up for the November Tests of 2009 but did not feature. He has represented the Ireland 'A' side on a number of occasions.
