The rampaging number eight made his England debut in a 2012 Six Nations game away to Scotland. After spending three years playing rugby with the Scarlets in Wales, Morgan became eligible to represent Wales and it seemed inevitable he would represent the principality when he turned down a chance to play for the England Saxons in the summer of 2011.
Morgan, however, had a change of heart and decided to represent the nation of his birth and upbringing. Morgan signed for his boyhood club, Gloucester, in 2012. During the 2016/17 Premiership season, Morgan announced a contract extension with Gloucester.
As of the 2018/2019 Champions Cup, Morgan has had 37 European Cups appearances scoring 6 tries and 30 points.
Morgan was included in the England Squad for the first time since 2015. The last he played was in the RWC against Australia. He has 31 Test appearances ahead of the November Internationals
