Ben Lam

9th Jun 1991 1.94m/105kg Left Wing

This Auckland native is blessed with all of the attributes to become a world class sevens player.

He won a Glasgow Commonwealth Games silver medal in 2014 in the Rugby sevens.

Tall and strong, with searing pace to boot, there is no doubting the potential Lam possesses. This potential has clearly been identified by the Auckland provincial team, with whom he has already represented in the ITM cup.

He was selected for the Auckland and Blues sides in 2012. He played 12 games for Auckland after making his debut in 2012 against Hawke's Bay.

He was a member of the Blues 2016 squad before injury struck in the preseason, also ruling him out of the New Zealand Sevens team’s Olympic Games squad.

In October 2016, he signed for Super Rugby champions the Hurricanes for 2017 and 2018.

He had limited opportunities at the Hurricanes during 2017 with just one start..

In April 2018, the versatile player signed a two-year extension with Hurricanes, and emerged as one of the genuine standouts in that year's Super Rugby, crossing for a competition-leading eight tries.

Ahead of the 2020 Super Rugby season, Lam was named for the Hurricanes squad having obtained 38 caps.

February 2020 saw him sign a two-year deal with French side Bordeaux-Begles following Semi Radradra's exit at the club.
