Ryan started his career at Cork Constitution and UCC (University College Cork) Rugby before making the short move overseas to Rotherham Titans.
At the Clifton Lane outfit, Ryan made 30 appearances over two seasons, helping the side to consecutive fourth-placed Championship finishes.
At the beginning of the 2016-17 season, the back-rower moved to Ealing Trailfinders, scoring three tries in his debut season.
In June 2018, he signed a one-year deal with Doncaster Knights.
