The experienced fullback was born and raised in Uruguay.
He has represented the Uruguay Sevens team at 4 tournaments between 2018 and 2019.
Etcheverry signed his first professional contract for Peñarol in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby ahead of the 2021 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby season.
In 2022, he returned back to Sevens to help his country at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town. Etcheverry competed in every game for Uruguay in the tournament.
