Steven Lawrie is a former Scottish rugby union player who had a notable career with Edinburgh Rugby in the Pro12.

Born on February 22, 1984, Lawrie represented Scotland at various levels, including A, under-21, and under-19. He also had the opportunity to feature in the Scotland Sevens squad, debuting in the 2008 London Sevens tournament and subsequently playing in the 2008 Edinburgh Sevens at Murrayfield.

Lawrie showcased his leadership abilities as he captained the Edinburgh under-18, under-19, and under-20 teams, leading them to consecutive district championships from 2002 to 2004. He also represented Scotland under-19 during the 2002-2003 season.

His dedication and skill earned him his Scotland A debut in a convincing 25-0 victory over the USA Eagles at Netherdale in November 2010. He further contributed to the team as a substitute in the triumph against Italy A in January 2011.

Throughout his professional playing career, Lawrie amassed 44 appearances for Edinburgh Rugby, split over two spells with the club. He also spent two years in the English Championship with Doncaster. Lawrie's commitment to the sport extended to the international stage, earning him a full international cap for Scotland against Samoa in 2013.

After concluding his playing career, Lawrie transitioned into coaching and now holds a UKCC Level 4 qualification. He returned to Edinburgh as Assistant Forwards Coach ahead of the 2019/20 season after gaining coaching experience with Watsonians, where he served as Head Coach since the 2018/19 season.

Prior to his tenure at Watsonians, Lawrie played a pivotal role as an assistant to Phil Smith at Heriot's for five years, contributing to their league championship win in 2015 and their league and cup double in 2016.
