Portia Woodman-Wickliffe

Portia Woodman-Wickliffe is a trailblazer
and Black Ferns legend across XVs and
sevens formats. After announcing her
retirement from international rugby in
2024, Woodman-Wickliffe unretired,
making herself available for Black Ferns
team selections in 2025.
Renowned for her pace and try-scoring
prowess, she returned to the field in 2025
representing the Blues in Sky Super Rugby
Aupiki.
A recent Sky Super Rugby Aupiki 2025
champion with the Blues, her previous
achievements include winning two Rugby
World Cups (2017 and 2022), two sevens
Rugby World Cups (2013 and 2018) and
winning Olympic and Commonwealth golds.
She holds the record for top try-scorer in
Rugby World Cup history. In 2025, she also
surpassed Black Ferns Vanessa Cootes
and broke the all-time record for the
Black Ferns after scoring seven tries in the
Pacific Four Series final v USA.
Woodman-Wickliffe was also recognised
by World Rugby as Sevens Player of the
Year in 2015, Women’s Player of the Year
(XVs) in 2017 and in 2020, was named
the top women’s sevens player of the
decade. She can also add Officer of the
New Zealand Order of Merit to her list of
accolades after being recognised in this
year’s Kings Honours.
