Coyne is a Galway native, she is a powerful and abrasive winger, who can also cover full back. She plays her rugby with Galwegians.
While she didn't win any caps during the 2014/15 campaign, Coyne continued to perform for her club and province and was rewarded last November when she was named by Ireland Women's head coach Tom Tierney to start against current World champions England at the Stoop in November 2015.
Mairead played GAA county football with Galway before joining the Irish set-up.
The Connacht player won 7 caps for Ireland before being named in the 2017 6 Nations squad.
Her performances at the 2018 tournament earned her a spot in Ireland's 2019 Six Nations squad.
