Nico Costa started his playing career in his home country of Argentina with his brother Ignacio pairing up with him at halfback with Nico starting in the 9 jersey.
The Costa family moved to New Zealand in 2002 and have since pushed for provincial calls up since.
The youngest in the family, Nico, has already had a taste of provincial rugby, playing for Auckland in the 2017 Mitre 10 Cup.
He made three appearances off the bench at the end of Auckland’s campaign, before making the switch to Southland ahead of the 2018 edition of the tournament.
