World Rankings Permutations: Argentina could surpass New Zealand
- 2578
Argentina could end the weekend in their highest ranking since 2016 if they defeat the All Blacks in New Zealand.
Los Pumas will climb to fifth place if they secure back-to-back wins over New Zealand and Ian Foster's side will slip to a new low of sixth.
The last time Argentina were ranked as high as sixth was back in June 2016.
New Zealand could even fall to seventh in defeat if they lose by more than 15 points and Australia win.
If Los Pumas and Wallabies both win by more than 15 points, Argentina will climb to fourth for the first time since Rugby World Cup 2015.
The All Blacks could move ahead of South Africa if they beat Argentina by more than 15 points and South Africa lose again in Australia.
Argentina can not fall lower than seventh, even if beaten by more than 15 points, they could actually climb even in defeat if Australia are also beaten.
For Australia, they are unable to move ahead of South Africa even with a victory by more than 15 points - in this case they would trail by 0.35 rating points.
The Springboks will fall two places if they lose to Australia and New Zealand beat Argentina. It can also happen if Los Pumas triumph by more than 15 points and South Africa lose by the same margin. The Springboks will remain in third if they beat Australia
Australia can fall two places to a new low of eighth if they lose by more than 15 points and Argentina avoid defeat against New Zealand
