Welsh front-row: Lewis out, John in
- 1064
Welsh prop Dillon Lewis has been released from Wayne Pivac’s squad with a neck injury, opening the door for WillGriff John.
The injury is of such a nature that Lewis will take no further part in the 2021 Six Nations.
Lewis’ departure opens the door for Sale WillGriff John to come into the squad and assume the tighthead duties. John, 28, is a powerful scrummager but has yet to receive his first international cap. He was picked in Wayne Pivac’s side last year to face Scotland before the match was called off due to Coronavirus.
After a run of bad luck in recent times, Wales have now won their opening two games of this year’s tournament and look to be in decent shape. They face the English in Round 3 on 27 February.
