A last gasp try saw the Stormers edge the Scarlets 26-21 in the final round of the United Rugby Championship.
The Scarlets got off to a fast start, following up an early penalty with a try shortly after to open up a 10-0 lead. The Stormers hit back with a try to open their account, but the Scarlets managed to keep the scoreboard ticking over, slotting two penalties to lead 16-7. A try for the Stormers just before halftime saw them trail 16-14 at the break. It took just a minute into the second half for the Stormers to cross for their third try and hit the front 21-16. The Scarlets then missed a penalty attempt, but the Stormers picked up a yellow card after 58 minutes to go down to 14 players.
The Scarlets levelled matters up with a try with a little under ten minutes remaining to set up a tense finish. The Stomers would have the final say, as their try inside the final minute saw them snacth victory to claim the South African Shield, as well as secure a home quarter-final clash against Edinburgh, while the defeat for the Scarlets sees them fail to leapfrog the Ospreys for the Welsh Shield.
