A big win for Montpellier as the remain at the summit of the Top 14 table with three games left in the regular season. The visitors got off to a flying start with Paul Jordaan receiving the ball at the end of a fantastic counter attack to put La Rochelle ahead 12 minutes into the game. Montpellier hit back two minutes later through a sensational solo try by Jesse Mogg. Tawera Kerr-Barlow got the visitors back in front another two minutes later when he threw a brilliant dummy off the back of a lineout to breakthrough the Montpellier defence and score under the sticks. It took Montpellier 5 minutes to respond with a try of their own, this time it was Nemani Nadolo who finished off a fantastic move after Cruden sent a well-weighted cross kick to Jesse Mogg who offload to the winger. Cruden sent other stellar cross kick Bismarck du Plessis's way moments later and the hooker found Picamoles on his inside for Montpellier's third try of the game and sent the home side 21-14 up at the break. Bismarck then got a try of his own off the back of a strong driving maul 5 minutes into the second half before Mogg chased down a superb up and under by Ruan Pienaar to score his second of the game. Pierre Boudehent finished off a fantastic attack by La Rochelle in the 72nd minute, that was the scores remained unchanged from their despite La Rochelle's best efforts the game ended 40-24.
