Harlequins are excited to announce that back-row forward Tom Lawday has signed a long-term contract with the club.
Lawday joined Quins from Exeter Chiefs ahead of the 2019-20 season and has made a solid impressive with the club.
A major strength of the 27 year-old is his versatility, as he is able to play across the back-row. To date, he has racked up 26 appearances for Quins, even captaining the side once last year.
“I’m really happy to be able to extend my time at Quins,” Lawday said. “We have a great group here with a real mixture of personalities and skills. It’s an exciting time to be part of the Club and something I’m looking forward to seeing flourish.
“We’re a team with the ability to beat anyone on any given day when we’re in full flow, but there’s still room for improvement. It’s a great place to be as a team. I’ve made some great friends here and can’t wait to see how far we can go as a group.”
Jerry Flannery – Quins' lineout and defence coach – said:
“Tom is a fantastic athlete and a real workhorse in our pack. His versatility across the whole back row is a huge asset. There’s real competition in that backrow unit and Tom is one of the guys driving that.
“We’ve seen some great rugby from Tom so far but with his determination and the mindset for improvement he has in his locker, I know there’s even more to come.
“It’s a real boost to have Tom join the host of players to have re-signed with Quins.”
