- 1972
The Jaguares ended their tour to New Zealand on high after they claimed a historic 20-28 victory over the Hurricanes, their first win over the Wellington-based franchise in Super Rugby.
The Argentine's fell short against the Highlanders last week suffering a narrow 32-27 but now they head to Australia on a high having won five of their last six matches.
The win in Wellington means that the Jaguares have now won four of their last six games in the land of the long white cloud.
The Hurricanes came out flying scoring a try in opening two minutes through Vaea Fifita but the Jaguares hit back almost immediately as Jordie Barrett was sent to the sin bin for slapping the ball away over his try line and conceded a seven-pointer.
Agustin Creevy crashed over from a maul before captain Jeronimo de la Fuente extended their lead to 13 points heading into the break.
The Hurricanes did fight back in the second half as Ngani Laumape made it an 8 point game bug Julian Montoya put the game out of reach for the Hurricanes who could only get a late try through Kane Le'aupepe to ensure they got at least one log point from the encounter.
Ardie Savea
Despite being on the losing side, the All Black No. 8 was in sensational form for the Canes yet again. Savea was an absolute monster on defence as he made 15 tackles and won three turnovers as the game progressed. On attack the loose forward was no slouch as he gained 80 metres in total and carried the ball 13 times, also beating 5 defenders.
Jeronimo De la Feunte
The Jaguares centre really put together a captain’s performance today and was phenomenal on attack. De la Feunte got himself on the scoresheet in the first half and also racked up 40 metres, beating nine men along the way.
Joaquin Diaz Bonilla
The flyhalf was produced a great kicking display and made sure his side were always one step ahead on the scoreboard. Bonilla scored 6 points and had kick success rate of 100%. He also made number of crucial tackles in the match which great to see.
Ramiro Moyano
Might have faded a bit in the second half but wow what first-half did he have! Monyano carried the ball 131 metres and made five tackles in the match.
Pablo Matera
He was definitely the Jaguares version of Savea today! He made 12 carries in the match and won two crucial turnovers. Matera made a 13 tackles in the game which was one of his highest in his team.
