The second game of round 5 kicked off between the Brumbies and the Queensland Reds at the GIO Stadium. Brumbies came off a 24-0 victory against the Western Force last week, while the Reds returned from a bye. The Brumbies started the game on the strong foot as the Reds immediately made an error from the kick off. Brumbies formed a maul from a 5m attacking line out and Faingaa went over the score the first try of the game. Sautia was replaced in the 23rd minute by Petaia due to injury. The maul was the Brumbies go to weapon as Faingaa scored another try in the 33rd minute from the back of the maul. O'Connor got the Reds on to the board in the 38th minute with a penalty kick. The second half got underway and the Reds came out the stronger of the two teams. Wilson scored from a brilliant offload from Petaia. Minutes later and Angus Scott-Young scored another try for the Reds. O'Connor kicked a penalty kick to take the Reds ahead of the Brumbies. A dramatic comeback from the Brumbies saw them take victory as Hansen slotted a 80th minute penalty to win the game.
