2014

What a game we were treated to last season with Scotland securing only their second ever away win over Italy in the Six Nations. With both teams scoring two tries each Italy led 20-18 as we entered into the final minute. Scotland made their way into the Italy 22 and Chris Cusiter found Duncan Weir in the pocket and the Glasgow man split the posts with a drop-goal to secure Scotland a 21-20 win and condemn Italy to the wooden spoon once again.

2013

Italy will want to forget about this game in what was Scotland’s biggest win over the Italians. Murrayfield witnessed some highly entertaining Rugby that day with Scotland scoring four tries through Visser, Scott, Hogg and Sean Lamont in a comprehensive 34-10 win. For the first time in the competitions history, neither Italy or Scotland ended up with the wooden spoon with France finishing bottom of the championship that year.

As both sides went into the final round of games it was a winner takes all game in Rome with the loser ending up with the wooden spoon. In what was a tight game, Italy secured a 13-6 win thanks to a try from Giovanbattista Venditti. Scotland looked for a try to secure a draw but it never came as the Scots finished bottom of the pile and ended up with the wooden spoon.

2011

After securing a win over France the previous week, Italy travelled to Murrayfield looking for consecutive wins for the first time in the Six Nations and condemn Scotland to the wooden spoon. However Scotland had other ideas and the secured a 21-8 thanks to tries from Nikki Walker and Chris De Luca and even though they were level on points with Italy they avoided the wooden spoon due to a better points difference.

2010

In what was another tight game between the sides at Rome, Italy were able to to secure a 16-12 win over Scotland thanks to the boot of Mirco Bergamsco and a try from Canavasio. Unfortunately the win was not enough for them to avoid the wooden spoon, with Scotland drawing with England and defeating Ireland to finish ahead of Italy in the table.
