Schoeman's Performance Leads To Cheetahs Victory
- 1333
The Cheetahs would have come into the game against Zebre looking to get their post-festive break campaign up and running. And they did not disappoint as they started the game quickly. The game was tight for a great part of it as both sides went into the tunnel at halftime with two tries apiece. However it was the away sides defensive effort and strong attacking intent that got them on the front foot in the second half and eventually running away with the game.
The key performers this afternoon came from the Cheetahs players and they are:
Tiaan Schoeman - Cheetahs
A commanding performance by the 27-year-old this afternoon. While the Cheetahs were looking to play a fast and expansive game the opposition often did not allow them. However, it was Schoeman who often controlled and dictated thing in the park. This enabled the Cheetahs to remain on the front foot. The Man of The Match award was well deserved by the fleet-footed flyhalf who played a very tactically astute game today.
Bernard Janse van Rensburg - Cheetahs
He once played most of his rugby at flyhalf but one would not say as he has so easily shifted to the out centre channel. His two tries were proof of this. His change of pace and receiving the ball on the angle cause plenty of problems for the opposition defence today. As a result, the Cheetahs were always able to play some good rugby out wide.
Gerhard Olivier - Cheetahs
Many would forget that this was only his 12th outing in the PRO14, his performances of late have are the reason why he is one of the constant starters for the Cheetahs. Once again he proved himself on defence and he is one of the many reasons why the Cheetahs managed to hold out Zebre in the second half. A constant threat at the breakdown.
