Saints look for improved performance against Newcastle

Newcastle will have their tails up when they take the field at Kingston Park this evening to face Saints. The Falcons recorded a great result in the last round; punishing London Irish 52-27 at the same venue. Just one point separated the sides at half-time but the Falcons took off in the second stanza. 

The Saints were taken completely by surprise by the Cherry & Whites in Round 18 and would’ve been decidedly dissatisfied with their performance. 70 minutes had run up on the clock before Saints posted their first and only points of the game. On the bright side, however, they have an opportunity this evening to put things right. 

In terms of the overall standings, Saints occupy 5th position while Newcastle are languishing in 11th spot. Saints are some way behind fourth-placed Harlequins as the tournament draws to a close and will therefore be expected to throw everything they have at their remaining fixtures in an attempt to possibly secure a play-off berth.
