Reihana commits to the Crusaders

Rivez Reihana has committed to the Crusaders for another two seasons.

The 24-year-old joined the Crusaders for the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season, debuting in Round 1 against the Chiefs – a team he played three seasons for before shifting his skills south to Christchurch.

Currently in the thick of the Bunnings Warehouse NPC for Northland, the playmaker cut his international teeth this season touring with the Māori All Blacks when they travelled to Japan for a two-fixture tour versus Japan XV.

Reihana started in two of his seven games in the 2024 season and played the full 80 in our 39-0 home win over the Rebels in Round 10.

“I’m really excited to get back to Rugby Park and reconnect with the boys, play some rugby and prove ourselves in 2025,” Reihana said.

“Having been with the team for a full season, the culture we have is unreal and the reasons for playing are so strong in that group – I can’t imagine playing my rugby anywhere else right now.

“Obviously the pull of playing at One New Zealand Stadium in 2026 is there too and will be a huge moment for myself and for the team.”

He started in the 10- jersey for both Japan XV fixtures in June/July. The national team took the first fixture 36-10 with Reihana driving the game from the middle of the paddock – his confidence building through the 80 minutes.

Rob Penney, Crusaders Head Coach, said Reihana was recruited last season because “he has a great future”.

“We have enormous faith in Rivez and his game driving capabilities,” Penney said.

“Unfortunately, injury got in the way during 2024, and we’re looking forward to seeing him fulfil his potential in 2025.”
