Erasmus, Nienaber return to SA Rugby HQ


SA Rugby have confirmed that Rassie Erasmus has started in his new position as Director: Rugby at the union’s headquarters in Cape Town.

 


Erasmus was joined at SARU House by Jacques Nienaber, a former Springbok assistant coach and SA Rugby High Performance Manager, who will also resume duties in the Rugby Department. Both return to South Africa following a stint with Irish province Munster.

 

Ben Toolis re-signs with Edinburgh

Scotland international lock Ben Toolis, who earned his sixth international cap against New Zealand at BT Murrayfield on Saturday, will be an Edinburgh player for at least the next two years after signing a new deal.

 

Toolis joined Edinburgh in 2013 and has gone onto make 76 appearances for the club.

 

Maitland and Brown added to Scotland squad

Saracens wing Sean Maitland and Glasgow Warriors hooker Fraser Brown have been added to the Scotland squad today ahead of this Saturday’s match against Australia.

The pair – both on 28 caps – recently returned to fitness following knee and ankle injuries respectively and will now train fully with the national team ahead of the third and final Autumn Test at the home of Scottish rugby.

Springboks sweat over Marx & Etzebeth's fitness

Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx will go for an MRI scan today after receiving a blow to his shoulder in Paris on Saturday.

Marx and Bok captain Eben Etzebeth (lower leg injury) had x-rays on Sunday to determine the severity of injuries sustained in the 18-17 win over France.

'Eben and Malcolm’s x-rays were both normal. However, Malcolm will go for a MRI scan on Monday to further investigate his injury,' explained Bok doctor Konrad von Hagen.

All Blacks duo ruled out of Wales Test

The All Blacks have lost key the services of Rieko Ioane and Luke Romano for their final test of the year against Wales on Saturday.

Ioane played the full 80 minutes gaining 87 metres, beating 7 defenders, collecting 5 clean breaks and picked up a try assist as the All Blacks edged Scotland 22-17 at Murrayfield on Saturday.

  

However, a shoulder issue will see him miss next weekend's trip to Cardiff, while lock Romano, who was replaced early in the second half in Edinburgh, has a foot injury.
