Huge personal milestone for Farrell as England claim Autumn Nations Cup

During the pulsating conclusion to the Autumn Nations Cup on Sunday, England captain Owen Farrell kicked himself into an exclusive club of legends of the game.
The 29 year-old became the sixth player in history to reach 1000 test points, and thus now rubs shoulders with Dan Carter (New Zealand), Jonny Wilkinson (England), Neil Jenkins (Wales), Ronan O’Gara (Ireland), and Diego Dominguez (Argentina).
Farrell began his international career in February of 2012 against Scotland, bagging five points through a penalty and conversion. Since then, Farrell has won 88 caps for his country as well as 4 for the British & Irish Lions.
During Sunday’s game, which went down to the wire – the teams forced into an extra time period, Farrell was busy with the boot, slotting 4 penalties and a conversion but also missed five other opportunities.
'I missed some that I definitely, definitely shouldn't have missed and made that game go on longer than it should have,' Farrell said.

'There were a lot of chances to win that game and it was my fault that we didn't take them, but the boys kept going at it.
'I was confident in what we were playing. I thought we grew throughout the second half.
'Obviously it only takes one mistake and thankfully we played the way we did in the second half and got better and better as it went on.
'We were pressing at the end. It took a couple of chances, but we got there in the end.'
With the victory, England were crowned Autumn Nations Cup champions and contributed well to a fantastic final game of the tournament which saw their captain reach this coveted milestone.
