Glasgow Warriors’ route to Challenge Cup final

Glasgow Warriors have fought their way to a maiden EPCR Challenge Cup final. Here we take a look at their path to face RC Toulon in Dublin on May 19.
Round 1: Bath Rugby 19 Glasgow Warriors 22
Glasgow were made to work hard for their Round 1 victory in the pool stage, needing a late penalty to seal victory at Bath’s Recreation Ground.
First-half tries from Lewis Bean, George Turner and Huw Jones – with two conversions from Dominic Miotti – helped Glasgow to a half-time lead, but they needed a 71st minute penalty from Duncan Weir to claim victory.
Round 2: Glasgow Warriors 26 USAP 18
Glasgow were a class above the TOP 14 side in Round 2 as four tries powered them to a comfortable win at BT Murrayfield Stadium.
As well as a penalty try, there were scores from Rufus McLean, Huw Jones and Sebastian Cancelliere, plus two conversions from Duncan Weir.
Round 3: USAP 26 Glasgow Warriors 40
Glasgow completed the double over USAP, with a six-try win in France their third EPCR Challenge Cup victory of the season in as many games.
Those six tries had six different scorers, with Johnny Matthews, Richie Gray, Stafford McDowell, Samuel Johnson, Ollie Smith and Josh McKay all dotting down. Dominic Miotti landed one conversion, with Duncan Weir kicking another four.
Round 4: Glasgow Warriors 19 Bath Rugby 19
A draw was all Glasgow needed to secure home advantage for their Round of 16 game as they finished second in Pool A behind RC Toulon.
Tries from Matt Fagerson, Sione Vailanu and Sebastian Cancelliere, plus two conversions from Tom Jordan, cancelled out a converted try and four penalties for the visitors.
Round of 16: Glasgow Warriors 73 Dragons RFC 33
A rampant Glasgow stormed into their second successive EPCR Challenge Cup quarter-final thanks to an 11-try demolition of Dragons at Scotstoun Stadium.
Five of those scores came through Johnny Matthews- the first man ever to score five in one match for Glasgow – while Kyle Steyn (2), George Horne, George Turner, Cole Forbes and Huw Jones also dotted down. Horne kicked 16 points and Dominic Miotti another two.
Quarter-final: Glasgow Warriors 31 Emirates Lions 21
Glasgow fired their way to a first-ever EPCR semi-final, with four tries and the boot of George Horne being enough to get past Emirates Lions.
Jack Dempsey, Jamie Dobie, Zander Fagerson and Tom Jordan went over for Glasgow, while Horne kicked an all-important 11 points from the tee.
Semi-final: Scarlets 17 Glasgow Warriors 35
With Scarlets having topped Pool B, Glasgow had to fight hard at Parc y Scarlets to earn themselves a deserved spot in the EPCR Challenge Cup final.
Seven points down at the break despite Stafford McDowell’s early try, Glasgow prevailed with another from McDowell plus scores from George Horne, Johnny Matthews and Rory Darge. Horne was on form from the tee again, kicking 10 points.
