The Brumbies have announced the signing of experienced lock Cadeyrn Neville for the 2020 Super Rugby season.
The 30-year old will add valuable leadership to the Brumbies second-row stocks, having made 64 appearances in Super Rugby for the Rebels and the Reds.
Neville has spent the past three seasons in Japan with the Toyota Industries Shuttles where he played alongside Christian Lealiifano.
“I’m stoked to be returning home to join the Brumbies,” Neville said.
“The club has a rich history and a proud winning tradition, something I’m really excited about being part of.
“I think the Brumbies style of play, their focus on set-piece will really suit my game and I’m just really looking forward to getting started next year.”
Neville will join up with the squad in January after the end of the current Japanese season, but he should have no trouble settling in to Canberra.
As a schoolboy, Neville left his home in Manly to join the AIS rowing program, competing in the Youth Olympics for Australia.
Despite only taking up the sport in 2009, Neville made a meteoric rise up the ranks to join the Rebels in 2012 and was part of the Wallabies wider training squad that year.
“We’re delighted to have Cadeyrn join the club,” Brumbies Head Coach, Dan McKellar said.
“With Sam Carter and Rory Arnold moving on at the end of last season, we felt we needed an experienced figure at lock to add to our existing four Locks and Cadeyrn brings that.
“Whilst Cadeyrn has been around professional rugby for a long time we still see huge growth and improvement in his game. We are really looking forward to working closely with Cadeyrn to ensure he reaches his full potential as a player.
Together with Enever, Douglas, Swain and Frost we feel we have a good balanced group of locks with plenty of depth which is what we need heading into 2020.”
