Chris Ashton has never given up hope of resurrecting his England career and is keeping his fingers crossed that his four tries for Saracens against London Welsh on Saturday will earn him a recall.

Ashton’s timely reminder of his finishing ability at the Kassam Stadium helped Saracens to deny Exeter Chiefs the fourth and final place in the Aviva Premiership play-offs.
