Ulster started strongly with a try 13 minutes in to lead 7-0. The following restart from Toulouse went straight out on the full, with Ulster scoring a try from the resulting scrum to extend their advantage out to 12-0.
Toulouse hit back immediately with a try to get on the board around the midpoint of the first half. Toulouse would have the final say of the half, as a try with the final play saw them take a slender 14-12 lead into the break. Ulster slotted an early second half penalty to edge ahead 15-12, but missed a second shot at goal shortly after.
