Bunnings NPC: Round 6 Wrap-Up

Round 6 of the Bunnings NPC kicked off with a win for the Wellington Lions over Canterbury at Sky Stadium. The high-scoring encounter saw Wellington emerge 35-30 victors. The game was barely a minute old before Wellington pounced on a Canterbury error which saw Peter Umaga-Jensen sprint over the try line.
Wellington were in rampant form and knocked over a penalty and scored again via Du’Plessis Kirifi. Canterbury clawed their way back into the game with two tries and a penalty as the team jogged off to the sheds for half-time.
The second half was an electric competition which saw both sides dot down twice more. Canterbury dug out a 7-point lead as the game drew to a close but a massive effort by Wellington saw them draw level with 82 minutes on the clock, taking the game into extra time.
Beautiful work from the Wellington backs saw Umaga-Jensen dance over the try line for his second try and victory for his team.
Hawke’s Bay dominated Tasman in a result which raised a few eyebrows as the home side ran in 5 tries to 1 for a final score of 34-22.

In the final game of the round, Manawatu did the business against Southland. Final score: 38-27.
